Who is Rob Hopkins

Rob Hopkins is a long time resident of northern Canada pioneering innovative long distance communication techniques connecting rural communities.

Built and managed government communication networks. Deployed large networks with Dell hardware using open source software operating with workstations integrated to dual boot between XP and Ubuntu. Networked HD projection systems with multimedia capabilities for GIS and telepresence.

Designed and supplied long distance wireless communication infrastructure for GSM networks in the north.

Coming from an inventive family, one of Rob's inspirations was his great grandfather William Redpath of Toronto working for Pathe Films, who was the first Canadian member of SMPTE (Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers) in 1918.
