Settings Files

Sample configuration files can be exported and saved to easily transfer your system settings to a freshly imaged box. This process supports the Version 5X series.

How to Export and Import Settings

1. Export Your Settings

  • Go to: > Admin > Export Settings
  • Verify the file’s contents by opening and reviewing the plain text useful for troubleshooting.

2. Import Settings to New Device

  • Go to: > Admin > Import Settings
  • Select the saved settings file appropriate for your player’s role.
  • Restart AlertPlayer for changes to take effect.

Important Notes

  • User Accounts: Existing user accounts should be retained and transferred with the settings file. However: Passwords are never saved in plain text and will be reset to default values on the target machine.
  • Backup: Always keep a backup copy of your settings file. Because it is in plain text, you can reference it for manual recovery or documentation if necessary.
